Hospitals are investing in DEI, but what do physicians have to say about their role in providing culturally competent care?

Healthgrades surveyed 600+ physicians nationwide to uncover how confident physicians feel in their ability to provide the best possible care to all patients, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, cultural practices, language, and health literacy.

The team asked questions to determine:

• What aspect(s) of a patient’s identity might prevent them from providing the best care;
• How they would rate their readiness to care for all patients;
• If they would be interested in additional training.

There were significant generational divides among physicians in regard to whether cultural competency plays a role in their patient interactions, including their appetite for more training.
